Zillow reported second-quarter revenue of $772 million, up 18 percent year over year, with a $4 million net loss and more than 500 job cuts announced alongside the results. Traffic to its apps and website slipped 2 percent to 239 million average monthly unique users.
The portal disclosed that Zillow Showcase is now active on 5 percent of all new listings. Agents who use the 3D tour product on the majority of their listings win 35 percent more listings than peers who do not, the company said in its shareholder letter.
Showcase requires a certified capture. The 35 percent figure represents the single strongest listing-presentation statistic available to a real estate photographer, paired with the 5 percent penetration number to show that almost nobody in a given market is using the product yet.
Zillow also reported that consumers using its new AI Mode spend more than three times as long on the site and contact an agent at nearly three times the rate of consumers who do not use the feature.
The AI Mode numbers point in the same direction as the Showcase data. The front door to a listing is changing shape, and the media inside that listing now has to hold attention three times longer than it used to, the company's results suggest.
The job cuts came despite the revenue growth. Zillow did not break out which divisions absorbed the reductions or specify the timing of the cuts.
The second-quarter results cap a week that also saw Insta360 confirm an August 12 launch for the X6 camera with dual 1-inch sensors, and DJI open pre-orders for the Osmo 360 II five days ahead of that date. Realtor.com and CoStar both grew revenue while their audiences and sales teams contracted, according to industry reports.
